Before I went to Barcelona, I posted a short announcement for meetup. I wasn’t so sure anyone would show up since I was also asking on different channels in Steemit chat, but it seemed that no one would really be in Barcelona for La Mercè festival. When I was almost sure I wouldn’t meet anyone. There was this girl @ojamajo contacting me, and we managed to meet up in the end.
It was interesting, although I love to introduce Steemit to friends and strangers, it was the first that I met Steemian in real life! Today I’m going to report a bit more about this 4-day city festival and my meetup experience.
Parade in different countries.
Dancing people on the balcony
The Siberian Republic Buryatiya showed us their amazing traditional clothes. By looking at their dress, I want to go visit Republic Buryatiya, even though I didn’t know anything about this place before.
We really love this dancing figure, was trying to take some pictures with him. Selfie were taken too quickly with twisted faces, and the dancing guy’s face not even inside the picture.
Don’t miss the amazing Spanish ham when you travel to Spain! It’s easy to find, in any restaurants, tapas bars or specialized ham restaurants.
Do you want some sugar floss?
In Parc de la Ciutadella there are projection shows every evening during the La Mercè. Visual artist Jordi Teixidó created a Light and Color studio know that brings the façade of the Geology Museum to life.
This lightened Giant Dancers are from a street theater company based in Cadiz. I met @ojamajo here in front of Parc de la Ciutadella where the dancing was taking place. We were really enjoy the show.
@ojamajo is an interesting girl, We even studied similar things and she discovered Steemit because she was working for the cyber security company where she needed to figure out the Bitcoin connection to ransomware. She told me many interesting stories, including Manu Chao went to her middle school to perform. She can sing very well, check her page! We had a great time watching the Giant dancers. That day was the last day of La Mercè, we also went to the big firework at Plaza de Espana.
Reykjavik is the guest city at this year’s Mercè. Therefore many Icelandic elements were able to be spotted. Such as this dome a film was displayed that begins with the genes of the Icelandic people and ends up with the most spectacular Icelandic landscapes. There was a long line to get in so we decided to go to the fireworks instead.
The firework was the final event of Barcelona’s La Mercè. It was quite a celebration, filled with colour, light and music. I loved that it began with Bjork’s song!
